Japanese Manners |

Gyoretsu means a line of people. Junban means order, or taking turns.

Lining up is one of the familiar sights of Japan. Outside a popular bakery or restaurant, a line forms and people simply wait their turn. On many train platforms, marks on the floor show where to stand for each door.

Many of us in Japan stand in line every week without anyone ever explaining why.
